rising up the stairs of life--if only for the meantime

so after finding out that i wont be graduating this april and i have so much time until i go back to college for my last subjects--supposedly in november--i decided im going to find work to make good use of my free time.

therefore on march 19, tuesday.  i went to jobstreet.com and tried to search for a certain company ive had my eyes on for quite some time now. a call center company with the choice of a non-voice account--meaning instead of answering calls, i would have to answer chat inquiries. i went and gave my application via internet.

march 20, wednesday. i received an email confirming that the company i applied to had received my application form. at this point i was still not to sure that i wanted to work, i mean after all, it will be my first actual application for an actual work! im getting the newbie jitters. so i ignored it until i get my nerves settled. probably never. so therefore fate decided to play a part.

march 22, friday. i was sleeping, just having a random afternoon nap when all of a sudden, i was woken up by my phone ringing. at first i didnt pay attention to it since it was an unregistered number. i ignored the first call only to have the same number call me again. seeing that the first two numbers indicated a call from the manila area got me curious so with a still groggy voice, i answered the phone. boo~ the company is calling me to inquire whether im still interested in applying. at that point i wanted to say i wasnt sure but i also didnt want to waste the opportunity. so i said yes. what i didnt expect was the phone interview that was given to me. i was still half-asleep while answering those questions. but the surprises didnt stop there. i was scheduled for another, a more formal interview the following day! seeing no other choice since the holy week is coming up and the schedule was already made, i went along with it.

march 23, saturday. my interview was set at 10am and i arrived there 1030am. not a problem though, i still wasnt accommodated until after a few more minutes. i was given an application form, english comprehension exam and then the initial interview. at that point, i indicated that i wanted a non-voice account so i was given several more tests. reading comprehension and typing speed test. i found out i have a 45/wpm speed with the regular typing speed at 35/wpm. after that i was given the certificate--a small slip of paper really, for my final interview the following monday. yaaayy~ so far so good.

march 25, monday. went there 11am as my scheduled time demanded but i wasnt accommodated until around 1pm since there were a lot of applicants. the final interview was a bit more complicated than the first which is mostly about just me and my background. this interview on the other hand asked me about my knowledge about the job im trying to get into and my ideas about a working career such as working hours, days and stuffs. after that interview i was given the last exam, a chat simulation to test how i would respond and react to a customer inquiry. this was given by the same person who gave me the final interview. needed to say, i was a bit nervous but i did manage to pass.

after that, i was led to the lobby and wait for my name to be called. when i was called, i was informed that i passed all the exams and i would wait now for the job offer. around 4:00-4:30pm, i signed my contract and am now officially a part of the working world.

who wouldve thought that an application without much thought put into it would actually result to something as grand and life changing as this? while other people there are working hard to get themselves employed, i was given the opportunity to get through it easily. god is good and i will be forever thankful.

this is linneth, temporarily signing of from the life of being a student and is now signing up for a new chapter of what this life has to offer~
